Deadlock
Synopsis
Sifou and Mahrez are childhood friends. Both are seventeen, both grew up in Sidi Lekbir, Algiers, and both have an older brother who fled to Europe. Lost between the bleak destiny promised by their neighborhood and the uncertainty lurking on the horizon, they ask themselves : Can they break the deadlock?

Lucien Beucher
Lucien Beucher is a French director. In 2018, he co-founded Bleu Désert, a trio of music video directors. Together, they have worked with artists such as Le Trio Joubran, 7-Jaws, S-crew, Kekra and Ziak. With “Deadlock”, he takes a step towards documentary. In the future, he hopes to explore longer narrative formats, such as feature-length fiction and documentary, blending the boundaries between the two.
Mahdi Boucif
Mahdi Boucif is an Algerian photographer and filmmaker. As a documentary photographer, his art is raw, his approach spontaneous, almost instinctive. His main aim: to show a certain vulnerability where we least expect it. With “Deadlock”, Mahdi makes his debut as co-director. The short film follows in the footsteps of his photographic work and looks ahead to future projects.
