Sweet Tooth

Film after film, Joséphine Darcy Hopkins builds a cinema with a rich identity, tackling personal themes through the grammar of daring genre cinema. With "Margaux", followed by "Le Jour Où Maman Est Devenue Un Monstre", Joséphine laid the foundations of her universe, earning her first distinctions such as the Jury Prize at the Paris Fantastic Film Festival, and notable selections at festivals such as Gérardmer, Fantasia (Montreal) and Paris Courts Devant... In all, she has made over 40 selections and won a Méliès d'Argent. As a result, she was selected for the International Filmmaking Academy in Bologna under the wing of New Zealand director Jane Campion. This step enabled her to reinforce the narrative and directing directions that would become the foundation of her cinema. With "Nuage", her first professional short film, which won an audience award at the Étrange Festival and was broadcast on Canal +, she continues to explore the themes that are dear to her (family, mourning and the relationship with nature), exploring new directing devices and confirming the foundations of a sensitive and singular cinematography. Following her participation in the screenplay for Fabrice du Welz's "Inéxorable", she went on to direct "Les Dents du Bonheur", which allowed her to tackle another facet of her work, as she abstracts herself from fantastical elements to explore social issues in a cruel tale at children's level. This new proposal will be rewarded with a first selection in the national competition in Clermont-Ferrand (2023) and a future broadcast on Arte. Today, Joséphine continues her collaboration with To Be Continued with the writing of her first feature-length film "Docile" which, through the prism of fantasy, will tackle the dysfunction of a family with dark secrets.
