About
Xin Wang
Born in Tianjin, China, Xin Wang began her career as a model for the Metropolitan agency at the age of 18. She began her acting career in Paris, where she stood out in a variety of television roles, including La fille au Fond du Verre à Sake (Canal+), Empreintes Criminelles (France 2), and Shanghai Blues (Arte), as well as in films such as Emmanuel Sapolsky’s The Eye of Silence, François Yang’s L’âme du tigre, and Richard Berry’s Tout, tout de suite.
It was with the Franco-Chinese series Ex-Model and her semi-autobiographical character that Xin Wang found an audience on both continents. The series was a commercial and critical success worldwide, winning the Audience Award at the 2015 Series Mania festival in the “Best Digital Series” category and garnering 100 million views on the Chinese platform Youku.
In 2018, Xin Wang is developing numerous projects as a screenwriter and producer across China, France, and the U.S. She is producing, co-writing, and starring as the title character—a photographer adrift—in the English-language series The Switch (10 episodes, 22 minutes each) for the Fashion One channel, as well as a new project that won an award at the Beaumarchais SACD competition: Détox (International title: The Good, the Bad, and the Buzz), which was selected for China’s largest independent film festival, the First Film Festival.
